He grew up in a Pastor’s family, where he moved occasionally, attending early school years in Lincoln, Nebraska; upper-elementary and junior high school in Des Moines, Iowa; and high school in Pontiac, Michigan. He attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Church Music, with a minor in Humanities through Valparaiso’s Christ College Honors College in 1986. That next school year he attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned his Masters in Church Music and Organ Performance. While at Valpo, he met his wife Patty, and they dated for several years and were married in October 1988. They are blessed with three adult daughters: Ashley (and husband, Conner) Goetz, Camille, and Emma, all of whom are educators. Deacon Bob has served congregations in Illinois and Minnesota for the past 36 years. In addition to his work at his local church, he has served as the SE Minnesota Synod’s Partner in Evangelical Worship, a role in which he has served as a lecturer and recitalist in areas of Worship and Church Music, particularly with regard to new worship resources which gave birth to the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal. He is a published author and composer. He and his wife live in Albert Lea, where he also runs his restaurant, Crescendo, and serves as chef. Patty is the President of First Farmer’s and Merchants Bank in Austin and Brownsdale. Bob’s hobbies include music, cooking, gardening, sports and fishing. They live with Phoebe, a five-year-old Golden Retriever (who thinks she runs the home). He looks forward to getting to know the people of Bear Creek Lutheran Church, and the community of Grand Meadow, working alongside each of you as we live out the ministry to which we have been called.
